As an escape artist Wayne broke (and still holds a world record) and was widely regarded as 'pretty damn good'.

He travelled the world and performed in front of many thousands each night with many appearances on TV radio and in the media.

...and managed to do what he does while living in the middle of the countryside which annoys the hell out of a lot of artists lol.

Wayne comes from a rather different background to most 3D artists. For years he worked as a professional Escape Artist all over the world and won many awards. Due to a bazaar co-incidence of a financial depression here in the UK in the 80's and a long term health problem Wayne moved into different arenas. After a while making a living as a session musician and guitar teacher he discovered the wonders of all things art related on a computer.

Wayne went from teaching Photoshop to both beginners and more experienced users to acting as a CSS Web coding consultant on a number of large projects. But the limits of the 2D world were not enough for him; it was at this point that he discovered 3D, (and never looked back.!)

He is entirely self taught and hasn't ‘absorbed' anyone else's style but his own. Wayne's workflow's (like his style) are unique are have been adopted on many a very large project. Wayne's strong point is the ability to produce good work either from concept sketches or ‘freestyle',Wayne has an ability fast and at high artstic quality, and as a result has a name as one of the fastest high quality 3d artists in the business.

Wayne's high output, means this site is often vastly out of date on any given day and it is not unusual for him to do a digital sculpture every day. In one 215 day period Wayne did 300 seperate models (not counting ones for clients...only the'relaxation and personal ones').

One of Wayne's most recent 'claims to fame' is that he decided to put his money where his mouth was and make hour upon hours of free high resolution video tutorials avalable for free to the 3D world. He did this at considerable personal financial cost and with the backing and consent of Autodesk. No money was made by anyone in any way for either the 'Mudbox 2009: From the Ground Up' Series or the 'QuickStart' Series. The 'revolution' as Wayne called it, aimed to give people what they have always asked for but never been given: High quality knowledge and training for free for as long as is feasible, just to see if it can be done. They have done astoundingly well and forced no less than 4 server moves and upgrades since October 2008 for this site and others. They eventualy outgrew DashDotSlash and Wayne opened MudboxHub.com where these videos and the only dedicated mudbox forum reside and act as a publishing company of Wayne and other artists DVD's on iAutodesk Mdbox. These videos now act as internal training for a number of large Visual FX houses and Game companies world wide and are considered 'must see' videos for any Mudbox user. When a company needs to know how to achieve something in Mudbox or its related pipelines or have theri artists trained Mudbox to a high degree quickly, they call in Wayne.

Wayne is currently writing an in depth and rather special Book on Mudbox 2009 due for release in the 3rd quarter of 2009 by Wordware.

Wayne Robson lives in the Derwent Valley with my partner Katrina and son Kane 3 3/4 years old and young baby daughter Emily who take up the majority of his free time. His ‘hobbies' when he actually have time to fit them in, include recording his own songs (5 albums and counting), programming, a rather scary film addiction, drawing monsters for his son and learning new things. He also likes to write about himself in the 3rd person, and has a 'unique' sense of humour that often drives people slowly crazy. He can be found on Twitter here: www.Twitter.com/WayneRobson (just dont expect the meaning of life from his twits.)
