Amazon link

754 pages

Release date: mid september

I’ve added a new page to the main part of the site giving some more info on my book ‘Essential ZBrush’.  I‘ll be updating this over the coming few days with some images from the book to give you all an idea how exactly how much

ground this book covers.

There’s some hard core knowledge and learning in this book, so if your looking for a ‘coffee table

book’ this isn’t for you.  But..if you want to REALLY learn ZBrush inside it and out,  then you’ll certainly want to read it and watch the accompanning 3 hour DVD.

Goat man - doodle

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

This is just a quick mess around using a base provided for a game artisans challenge… I was going to enter just for shits and giggles, but I was forced to make a few edge flow changes (due to me being not exactly in love with tri’s). So as such I’ve voided myself from entering lol.

Sculpted in mudbox (old version as its been a while) and zbrush for rendering out.

Granny Weatherwax WIP (Diskworld character)

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

I’ve been a massive fan of the Author Terry Pratchett’s diskworld novels for more years than I care to admit.  So last night I started a work in progress of teh character ‘Granny Weatherwax. ‘   There’s still a fair bit of work to be done on the cloak and hat and some tidying up of the wrinkles as well…but overall its heading in the direction of the way I visualise the character.

Autodesk, zombies and being a dad again

ZBrush zombie

It’s been an interesting few days…starting with one of my old Mudbox freebie videos being given front page on Autodesk’s ‘The Area’, through a speed zombie that personally didn’t register on my ‘art scale’ ending up something a lot of people likes…and oh yeah yesterday I found out I’m going to be a dad again. Kat is 2 months gone and baby is due in March.

I’m still in a semi state of shock as no matter how much you prepare yourself it still fries you brain when you hear those words confirming it. Although don’t think that you’ll be escaping me when the baby is born, as I’ve got plans in hand to make sure I am still able to both do my usual work for clients and keep my presence online as well. If you thought you were going to get rid of me that easily then your buggered lol.

Being asked by Autodesk to allow them to feature some of my old videos from the early days of Mudbox on the front page of the area was both nice and also odd. I say ‘odd’ as it seems like a lifetime ago that I recorded them, long before I recorded any DVD’s or wrote any articles or books. I think its safe to say we’ll be getting a few more hits here as a result.

Also the 1 hour 15 min free ZBrush video is now available for download for readers of 3dCreative magazine. (The link is in the last article in the ‘Zbrush for beginners’ series.) Although soon everyone else should also have access to it…it’s a 2 Gig download so make sure you save some space on your drive.

The Zombifacation is of the old wrinkly dude I did last week and was imply a short doodle for 20 mins or so. I honestly didn’t think it was up to much and nearly didn’t show anyone online…Just goes to show you can be a bad judge of your own work at times.

A speed sculpt from earlier in the week

I did a quick bust earlier in the week, and while wiating for the oven to warm up and my pizza to do.  No more than 25 mins was spent on it at absolute tops and its not a ’serious piece’ more a doodle.

The latest video blog is also now up on youtube under my username ‘noggity’ as usual for those who follow them.
